Värmdö, Sweden

Artipelag is an international venue for art, good food, events and activities, beautifully set on Värmdö, just 25 minutes from Stockholm. We reached it by boat which is such a great way to enjoy the stunning Swedish scenery. It was a very special visit because we had the chance to meet the lovely Björn Jakobson, the founder of Baby Björn whom together with his wife created Artipelag. Jakobson is 82 years old, he visits almost everyday the beautiful space he has created on the island, he greets guests in the restaurant and gives tours to visitors. This encounter was a highly inspirational moment.

This is the kind of view you get all along the boat ride
Artipelag can be reached also by road transport – we went by boat and came back by bus, which is also a good alternative
The design is beautiful everywhere and the restaurant serves excellent food, so it is really worth taking the time to have lunch
At the time we were there we had the opportunity to see an exhibition with fantastic work by Andy Warhol I had never seen before
It only takes 25 minutes to get here, if you have the time, definitely worth a half day visit
