Sunsets. The most insane sunsets ever. It is what stroke me the most. I knew I was going to see the clearest, most beautiful waters I had ever seen. And I did, so far there is not a more stunning sea than the Maldives. But I did not expect those sunsets…You get up in the morning already excited about the fact that you are going to get to see this natural spectacle again and again every day.
And they last, so you can enjoy it for a long time with a cocktail in your hand and your jaw dropping.
And next to the sunsets, the water…landing into the Maldives is already a feast for the eyes. Make sure you have a window seat and be alert, it only lasts a couple of minutes from the moment you see the first atolls until you land.
I stayed at Huvafen Fushi on a very tiny atoll. Basically you could walk around it in less than 15 minutes. It was true “barefoot luxury” concept even before the concept became popular. Literally, you take off your shoes the moment you arrive and put them on again when you leave, an exquisite surrounding where everywhere there is sand for you to walk on, which is powdery so white that it does not burn.
The location, those sunsets and the fact that you are stepping out of your bed and getting into that water. It is all so picture perfect that you start to wonder if it is all real.
